Differences between Rural and Urban Port Hope

We have been discussing the differences between the rural and urban communities in the Municipality of Port Hope since the taxation issues arose in 2012, when the Council of the day proposed a significant shift in tax-burden from one ward to the other. This paper serves to facilitate this conversation in order that the two communities might resume the interdependent and symbiotic relationship together, one that is organic, fair, equitable, and mutually respectful.

Disappointed re Hope Township LLRW Trust Fund

Port Hopers for Fair Taxes regrets that the new Council appears unwilling or unable to meet the commitments made to PHFFT and residents of Hope Township during the election, that they appear to be as confused by the nature of a Trust as the previous Council, and that they are missing the opportunity to heal the rifts developed by the previous Council and Staff between Ward 1 and Hope Township residents.
